Parkey Gap Holds!

Image
"Parkey Gap Held! " Disposition of Forces The Army of the Pines under the solid leadership of General Stiner has met the Kingsportion Jone's Army and driven them back.  The taking of Parkey Gap holds the Kingsportions at bay and opens the way to liberate Sneedville. A small force of bold Knoxville men met the invading Jone's Army and stopped them cold.  The action took place approximately fourteen miles from Sneedville at the Northern end of Parkey Gap.  Troops from Barbourville Dragoons and a combined force of Sneedville and Bean Station men, colloquially known as "the Orphans", established a blocking position and soundly defeated the overwhelming forces under the leadership of Commander Mathew Patton.   The initial volleys rendered the vanguard cavalry regiment the 1st Duffield Lancers ineffective as they scouted the abatis obstacles. The 2nd Duffield, advancing to the sound of the guns faired no better as Commander Patton, his troops in column fed his r

Working the Army of the Pines to retake Sneedville.   Based on the Knoxville campaign plan Hey Diddle Diddle, I provided three courses of action for General Stiner; 1-2 Secure Parkey Gap and Rebel Hollow to deny Commander Patton and his Jones' Army the ability to advance west from Sneedsville. 3-4 Secure Riley Church and establish a forward staging area to retake Sneedsville. 5-6 Hold the crossroads south of Hopewell Bridge to deny rapid access to Tazewell and Cumberland Gap. I rolled a two and issued the following order; Rapidly deploy the horse regiments from Harrogate and the combined Sneedville, Bean Station regiment (minus) to secure Parkey Gap. Follow on with the remainder of the Army of the Pines to reinforce the position and deny Jones' Army access through the gap.  Be prepared to advance on Sneedville on order. The Kingsport campaign plan Second Wind drives the armies deeper into Knoxville with Jones' Army tasked with securing the Cumberland Gap. 1-2 Secure the Ho

The Sneedville War An ahistorical account of a war fought in a realm that just happens to be in a real geographical location with a wide temporal sway. No timelords involved, just the virtual overlord Mr Wargamer providing campaigning oversight. The main campaign is ran via the The Sneedville War blog here, https://thesneedvillewar.blogspot.com/2022/07/hello-world.html  and video campaign here, https://youtu.be/ugvQCKrjNUY  .   I have chosen to use old ACW 1/72nd scale because I've had them for nearly 20 years, unused, so they will be pressed into service as Knoxvillians and Kingsportians, KV and KP.  Though the campaign is using current Google Earth and Maps, I dug back into the archives to match my maps somewhat to the period like the upcoming fight at Big Stone Gap, KP.   This allows me to better appreciate the terrain at the time, though GE does an awesome job getting a flyover view of the terrain, if it only had a line of sight tool. I accessed the maps from  https://ngmdb.us
Now how to set all this business up so its somewhat user friendly and accommodating. Can I direct link from discord or do I just transfer everything to here how will that formatting work?
